What can I do????

I was on a phone hookup with our Vermont delegation last week. I only lasted 45 minutes because what I was hearing was an echo chamber. Anguished questions from the public elicited the same anguish, re-framed, in response. Although Becka offered some fresh thinking.

The biggest, and maybe best, advice I heard was to stay engaged. The chaos is intended to discourage us and I hear so many people say they can't listen to the news any more.

Clearly our political system has been corrupted by money and power. We live in a corporatocracy and we have to look elsewhere for traction.

My opinion is that what Trump et. al. are doing is theater. It will hurt a lot of individuals. Hard-working immigrants, civil servants, farmers, consumers. But I doubt it will make significant structural change. Because the people who corrupted our government and still pull the strings of power are the people who own and manage the giant corporations and are, I bet, horrified by the chaos Trump is relishing.

Some of them got rich very (too) quickly. Thiel, Zuckerburg, Musk for example, and act like children. But there are wise, prudent people still assessing the situation and making plans to protect the future.

What we can do is care for the people who are going to suffer from the flailing and impulsive actions of the sick man in the White House.
